Dorico playing sounds that aren't written from old version of file?

Can you say more, @jzimn? Are you saying it’s bug-riddled? Not fully conceived?

Yikes. If you’re losing your preferences, it sounds like you’ve got something serious going on that’s specific to your computer/installation. (FWIW, I’ve for one have never experienced that problem.) That would warrant a separate thread so someone from the Dorico team can get diagnostic reports from you to assist.

You seem intent on dismissing your fellow forum-users as “chump-apologists” for Dorico, which may not be the best way to solicit others’ generosity in assisting you.

I see many users reporting what seems to be buggy behavior, and I see the Dorico team responding to those reports, both here in the forum and when I read each new release’s “Issues Resolved” section of the Version History. Do you have an example of anyone here telling you an actual bug is a “feature?”

Here’s a great example of @dspreadbury posting a thread for an “urgent” set of fixes:

[EDIT/ADDITION:] Here’s another great example of this forum in action:

…which ends with the following, just in minutes ago:

These judgements are categorically distinct from bugs. Designers make choices, both fundamental/structural and UI-related. Each of us likes (aspects of) them or we don’t. We offer feedback when so moved and the designers listen and either dismiss it, “back-burner” it, or put it at the “top of the pile” as they see fit given their design philosophy, marketing considerations, and/or time constraints. Fortunately we users have choices for the software we use.

Well, it’s still there…. (As you probably know, one can, of course, make use of Instrument Filters to isolate playback of select player(s).)If it’s material you absolutely don’t want (as opposed to parts you don’t want to see/hear at any given moment), then deleting it seems like the obvious solution. It would definitely be wise to confirm whether there’s hidden material or not before proceeding, so you and everyone else can approach the problem constructively.

I do hope that you reach out specifically about your lost prefs/crashing problems, as those sorts of experiences are definitely frustrating and leave one ill-disposed towards reflection and generosity towards other aspects of working with software.
