Expression maps - quick edit for many

Hello
I have made a lot of expression maps for my East West Opus and other libs. Some of them I bought. Now I need to change maps from direction to attribute. There are hundreds of them. How can I make it quick? I really don;t want to spent hours and click every one apart…

Hi,

The *.expressionmap files are just an XML files in fact. So you could write a simple script to edit them at once.

Hi - there may be some help via use of this tool here…
Expression Maps Generator - Create expression maps quickly - Cubase - Steinberg Forums

Nothing to download, it launches straight into your web-browser. Click on the ‘Help’ button at top left for how to use the interface. Its built by a 3rd party (non SB) and will I believe (I may be wrong.!) allow you to bulk change certain settings.

I’ve not used it in any anger myself, so can’t advise directly on your situation.

.. could give more clues to its power.!

I know, its a huge thread - but lots of usage info/tips throughout.

Anyway, I found the author of the tool quite approachable in the past. If you write a message direct to them or, simply tag them in to a post in that thread with any questions etc., you should get a response before long.

Good luck - hope that helps.!

Martin is right, it’s just a text file. You can probably open a text editor and search/replace all if you really jist want to change all of them to direction.

I’m looking at a text file of an expression map and can’t find direction or attribute anywhere. But I did find “displaytype” and a value associated with it. Is that the correct parameter to change?

Also, you would have to export each expression map individually, edit them, and then re-import and reassign each one.

Unless they are automatically saved in some secrete location I don’t know about…please tell me if that’s the case, lol
