I hear what you’re saying. Mine sat around collecting dust for 20 years until Cubase came out with MIDIremote. Now it is a fully functional controller with lots of features.
I did not find Mackie control emulation to be very useful. So I wrote a MIDIremote script that works if you simply turn the unit on not in Mackie mode. (To use Mackie mode you have to hold a button while starting up).
My scripts has stop/start/rewind/fast forward and the sliders control volume faders. Two buttons shift the banks left and right.
Here are the functions I include in the script:
quick controls (knobs 1 thru 8)
push encoders are read/write automation; mute/solo; monitor; select next/previous track; freeze/unfreeze
The two rows of buttons are :
return to start position
go to project start
open tempo track
align audio
edit instrument
duplicate selected tracks
record
redo
remove selected tracks
disable track
add instrument
add audio track
record enable
undo
I created a nice graphic that shows the the face of the bcf2000 with it’s knobs, faders, and sliders with the functions labelled. It fits on one 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper which you can print out.
I think I provided the MIDIremote script and a pdf of the color graphic on a previous post a few years ago. See if you can search my posts and locate it. If you can’t locate it let me know and I’ll see if I can dig them up and post them.
My script does not use the motorized aspect of the faders. I have a conversation with AI saved about customizing to add that functionality. Frankly, it looks like a real pain and I’m going to skip it.
By the way, if these aren’t enough functions for you then you can use three other pages on the bcf2000 and fill them up with even more functions. But I find these are enough.
If you are not familiar with MIDIremote you should watch some videos and get up to speed. It’s a great feature, but I find it is a little tricky to understand. The user friendliness leaves a little to be desired. But I wouldn’t want to be without it.
If you have an Arturia Keylab Mk2 controller there is a script on this site that is WAY more useful and sophisticated than the built in Cubase integration, which does not work with Cubase 12,13, or 14.
one last thing: make sure you are using at least a usb 2.0 cable or higher. Usb 1 may not work with the Behringer.
