After installing the latest “Install Missing VST Sounds” update which was being shown on my SDA, which was 10.54 GB in size (a bit bigger than my library), it added extra instruments which I don’t have licenses for.
The instruments added were:

It’s probably a bug in the download assistant, and I’m the same way

While it starts last year, it got revisited with the latest issue, and appears to be active in terms of trying to find some answers and workarounds.
Removing the unlicensed packages in Library Manager does clear them out, but then Download Assistant may want to install them again. Hopefully Steinberg will figure this out soon and provide a way to both specify how to remove the unlicensed stuff and make sure the stuff that is licensed (which may have been removed in trying to clear out the bits and pieces added at the same time) remains installed and activated.
Mine is not even limited to just that:
Yeah, I looked later at the Groove Agent tab and saw 4 sound sets that had been installed by the update. (I don’t use Groove Agent, so wouldn’t have noticed anything had I not decided to check the other tabs in Library Manager.) See my reply to you in the other thread for further findings on that front.
Same here. After latest Halion Sonic update I got this message ‘‘Install Missing VST Sounds’’ after which I got content I dont own licenses.. I needed to manualy delete this content. Seems like some Download Assistant bug.
After manually deleting those, I still got a “Install Missing VST Sounds” update, only smaller (about 2.4GB) and the stuff that gets installed doesn’t show on either HALion or Groove Agent. It’s still there.
EDIT - And right after I installed that and had no issues, I opened SDA to check something else and Steinberg tells me I have another “Install VST Sounds Missing” package of around 10 GB…
And so? It’s everything fine after all?
To sum up..
Am I right?
No, because it’s gonna download the unlicensed stuff again.
So we have to wait for further explanations by Steinberg
or I did not fully understand something?

Sorry for the inconvenience. We are already investigating what went wrong and how to solve it. Please stop installing the missing vst-sounds in loop. We’ll be back in a second with a solution.

UPDATE: We have just released a new version of Steinberg Library Manager. Please download and install it by simply opening the Steinberg Download Assistant and letting it handle the installation for you. Once completed, the “Missing VST files” message should no longer appear.
If the HALion Sonic Factory Content is still missing in Steinberg Library Manager because you uninstalled it after receiving an error message from the Activation Manager, you can easily reinstall the “HALion Sonic Selection” listed under your host DAW (Cubase/Nuendo, Dorico, or VST Live) in the Steinber Download Assistant.

Do we still have to delete the unlicensed stuff ourselves…?
I only got the option Unregister. It said it could not be moved to trash. I clicked Unregister. Now the red keys still appear. Please help.
I followed @jan_riesener’s guide and I do have the “Move to trash” option, but I also still have the “red keys”. The unlicensed content is still shown (I checked in HAlion Sonic stand-alone).
