Lyrics Hyphen Not Working

Hi I am new to Dorico (from Finale). I am really enjoying the program so far - I used the trial mode and liked it so much that I decided to buy the program to have it on my computer permanently. I took the advice to learn the “Dorico” way and did not change any shortcuts. Now I am actually working faster than I did with Finale.

I was just typing the lyrics today, and your tutorial videos show that you can use the hyphen key (-) to connect one syllable to the next, but it’s not working on my own. Instead of creating the lyrics hyphen, it just jumps to the next note as if I used space instead of a hyphen.

For now, I have been editing this manually using “Edit Line of Lyrics” function. I am trying to see if there is any other way around this? Any help would be appreciated!

I suspect there is a problem with the hyphen key in some languages (There were some recent threads on this topic)

It’s always tricky to make assumptions based on someone’s (user) name alone, but are you by chance Korean, or using a Korean keyboard? There was a recent thread mentioning unexpected behaviour with hyphens in lyrics in a Korean setup.

Thank you! This seems to have been the issue. Sorry I didn’t look up the forum more thoroughly!

Thank you so much! This fixed my issue!

Yes. I am Korean. This is a problem with inputting English lyrics, not Korean lyrics. When I input lyrics like morn-ing, the - sign does not appear. Of course, I inputted them in English mode.
