MediaBay: Set Up Results Column: PLEASE(!) get rid of this drop down menu + Presets

This drop-down menu is not good UI/UX,

you can only select one at a time. Please make it a collapsible/expandable tree menu checkbox prompt window.

Allow multiple selection in the list and check/uncheck all of them

Secondly, there depending on what I am doing - file organization/management/data entry, sample creation/deposits, sound-design, post-production, pop music project - I might want different 'Results Columns Setups’…

If I’m doing data entry/organization - I’m going to want all of them. If I am doing songwriting, I might want to condense things so that only applicable columns are easily visible.

Please create a presets system for this

There should also be a Search Filter which I did not add in the mockup

Yes. I’ve been working in the Media Bay a bunch lately and it is so annoying to have to keep opening that menu over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over…

Hot tip,

if you are doing data entry, you can use the right zone.

But it’s still not good for seeing enmasse, what has what data entered.

The presets should save the order of the columns as well.

And in Steinberg instruments like Halion the columns are either not remembered or the order is not remembered. I can’t set up a custom view that will still exist on the next day.

I found myself complaining about this just yesterday.

Agreed. The less clicks the better, always. Cubase has slowly been getting better with this, but a lot of work remains.

Yes configuration memory protocols/storing should be better in many aspects of the program.

I’ve never been able to figure out in MediaBay why some folders can have separate column setups, and others can’t/share column setups. I think certain folders maybe share a root directory level, and others don’t.

What would be ideal is if I could store column set ups per desired directory.

For example, I might want a different column setup for my Drums & Percussion folder, than I do my Synth samples folder, or my SFX for Film folder.
