Nuendo 14.0.30 issue "Image Under Construction"

Hi, Since the latest Update, I meet a problem with some projects which each has a large number of tracks, such as the Multitrack of Live session, which is about 3 hours long.
It needs a lot time to create audio track image, although all of them are created completely inside the folder “Image”.
I opened the projects using Cubase 13, it works perfect, no time to wait.
I want to check if it happens with the previous version of Nuendo. Can any one show me how to download the version 14.0.20?
And is there any way to set the Image folder’s location manually? I am thinking about a work-around.
Thank you.

Additional Info: The same project work perfect without this issue if I open in Nuendo 13.0.55

It’s me again. It must be a bug. I open a new project and import all the data from the begining. I waited until all the images were created successfully. Then I quit and re-open the project. The images need to be created again.

Hi,

Can you see the image files in the given Project’s subfolder, please?

Hi Martin, all those images are still there.
Nuendo 13, Cubase 13 read them and show the waveform immediately, while Nuendo 14 doesn’t. I remember before the update, Nuendo 14.0.20 didn’t face this similar issue.
Thank you.

I’ve been experiencing the same issue.

I am back to work now using Nuendo 13.0.55. It is much faster, all the waveform are initialised immediately, also editing tools (Time warp, Variaudio, Spectralayers Pro) have a great respond.
At least I feel that. I am not sure cause the large project may need more time to test. But about this issue, It doesn’t happen when I opening the same project using Nuendo 13.

Hi,

Does the Zoom In/Out help by any chance, please?

Yes, when waiting I also try to zoom in/out, or move the cursor to a different place. It’s even worst. Martin, any chance for me to have the previous version (Nuendo 14.0.20) Mac Installer? I can’t find it anywhere, and I really want to make a test if that version works or not.
Thank you.

Same here.. every time i open the project, new peak files, and the folder is full of repeated files

Same problem, Nuendo keeps creating images. I erased over 3 gig of them for one song.

In my case the Nuendo Session and all its folders are on one drive and the audio files are on another. Is that the case for you?

Hi Wheels,
Wherever they are in, the image will be re-built.
I even tried to do backup the project, copy them to another disk.
I even started from the beginning, imported those data to a new empty project.
Just re-open the project and the problem will be there.
Meanwhile, Nuendo 13, Cubase 13 open the project in second.

The issue still happens in the latest 14.0.31 Update.
Nuendo 13 is still working fine.
@Martin.Jirsak sorry to tag you, but I wonder if you can see this issue.
Thank you.

Hi,

Unfortunately I cannot reproduce the issue.

Is there any chance you can notice it when open the project? With the small project with less audio events, the images maybe re-created fast so I can see the notification in just 1 second. But with my current project, which contain many long audio files, it needs much more time to finish.

…i’m having the same problem since 14.0.30 and further. super annoying. i just checked that: loading a project, missing waveforms, those get rebuilt and i see them popping up in the “images” folder. i close the projet, re-open it; all waveforms missing, even though i can see them in the mentionned folder. now, the following happens: nuendo generates NEW peak-images, with a NEW unique ID, ON TOP of the previous ones. doing that a few times, i end up with multiple peak-images for each audio-file.
in short: nuendo doesn’t seem to be able to read/reload the previous peak-images, and generates new ones everytime i open a project.

makes it a real pita to load large ones… it’s a mess - please, have a look at this steinberg…

EDIT: it seems that it only happens (at least here) when working on projects started prior to 14.0.30. the ones started from scratch from 14:0.30 on don’t seem to have that problem (at least until now).

I’m seeing the same here in 14.0.32. Images dissapearing and rebuiding whilst project open also. This happens if I scroll back to waveforem images not currently in view. Not every time, It’s sporadic.

How can we prove this to admins?

i contacted the support…

I can confirm the same behaviour here. From version 14 and onwards. Win 10 system.
