Just curious as to how many people have integrated them into the production/writing/composition/studio biz/etc
- Almost Everyday/Every Project
- 1-3 times per month
- 1-10 times per year
- Never Use/Used Them
- Stopped Using Them Prior to 2026
- Stopped Using Them Prior to 2025
- Would but don’t because of bugs/problems
For those who do use them, tell us a bit how - genre, what type of work, personal projects, client projects, etc
Interesting results so far…
I’ve done some of the coolest sound-design/programming in my entire career with Modulators - unfortunately, I’ve encountered some bugs I have not been able to resolve that make them professionally/commercially unusable.
I’d love to hear from the Never Use/Used them camp - is this because you have no use for them, just haven’t got to them yet, or have issue with their implementation?
I’m curious to know if you have created some threads on the bugs that you’re experiencing with the modulators?
I’m still currently using Cubase 13. But when I eventually upgrade I could see myself using the modulators in the majority of my projects. I work in various electronic genre’s, and many times I am doing pure experimental sound design sessions and recording it to audio to build up material to continue on with my projects.

There’s an ongoing thread here:
Modulator assignments disappear from projects?! - Cubase - Steinberg Forums
and a potential related one here:
Modulators lose all their connections - Cubase - Steinberg Forums
… If you want to be a gem and download the C15 demo and test following my steps, it would be appreciated.

There is also a lack of general protocol integration, which is difficult to tell if a bug, or an actual lack of integration:
Modulator Management/Integration/Protocol (Currently there is no way to save complex setups) - Cubase - Steinberg Forums
Unfortunately I have already used my Cubase 15 demo and it has now expired. I’m currently unable to test that for you sorry.
I generally use automation way way more than modulators.
But modulators can be cool to create new sounds, eg when I wish for any plugin to have an LFO, then I open up a modulator, for example to replicate what an auto-wah does but with another plugin parameter, either using LFO or enveloppe.
I am sure the Modulators UX will receive improvements, looking forward to C16 !
I voted “Would but don’t because of bugs/problems” and I have stopped using them because the bugs would be completely showstopping (automation would break, and I’d have to go back and individually re-automate everything I bound to the modulators.
I stopped using them shortly after they were originally released because of this, but I will say I upgraded to that version of Cubase (I think it was 14?) specifically for the modulators (which to my disappointment, didn’t work right).
Personal electronic music (currently Goa Trance). I’m using it “daily” if considering a few days per week when I work on my personal music.
At work I can’t recall if I used it even once. Probably yes but it’s very rare.
It would be nice,
If you take a look at my integration feature request thread, there is a lot missing in just basic protocol function like duplicating track doesn’t properly duplicate Modulators:

This is interesting, I hadn’t encountered the conflict paradigm of automation vs modulator, have you made a thread about this? or created a screen-capture video of the problem?
Thanks to those who participated.
