Temporary closure of the Steinberg online shop

It was said by ed from Steinberg that Yamaha supported their decision in the change. As soon as the new shop gets up I’m expecting a flood of releases.

Hi @pschneider1968,

please forgive me my attempt at nitpicking:

what you refer to, I’d rather call this: sales psychology. Whereas - in general - marketing rather deals with the most practical (and realistic) ways to create and maintain various sales channels, and - ideally - how to keep them alive and thriving (more or less technically, including psychological aspects as their subset, e.g. by combining specific market analysis results and hopefully meaningful and well working methods of advertizing / product presentation and placement).

You’re of course correct in so far, as both are closely related and they frequently overlap. Yet both are not exactly the same thing.

Cheers & best wishes to everyone in this looooong thread,
Markus

Thank you very much, @SteveBee !

I was going to say: “Now that we are discussing in a civilized manner, we can decide on the best path forward for Steinberg” hahaha

I hope that, as you put it, it has just delayed the sales for them.

The main concern for me is that ultimately Steinberg should have full control over all aspects of their business, including the online store. How soon they can arrive at that is not as critical.

I am affiliated with another audio tech company and see how customers’ complaints, praises, suggestions, feedback etc. get passed internally to the decision-makers. That makes for better-informed decision-making. I hope something similar goes on in Steinberg   ( I am winking at you @dspreadbury )

How did you buy the previous version of Cubase, 2 weeks into the future?

Did you login to your Steinberg account and see if your DAC is sitting there waiting for you to redeem?

The copy of Cubase 11 he bought in the future has a transport bar with fast-forward. He used that to get into the future to buy it, then just hit rewind.

Easy.

You bought Cubase Elements 12 on Sep 28 and activated it on Oct 5. Thank you for your purchase! It seems as if the order was completed? Can’t say anything regarding Oct 28… we’ll have to wait and see

Yes, musicians are sensitive as part of their talents, but i think this remark is condescending because musicians are often also verry mathematical and analitical people. Some qualities that really helps in understaning automation in general and so on. So, i think it would be a good thing for Steinberg to take its customers seriously en respectfully in order to maintain good products as well as basis for the right way of marketing. When lacking these aspects Steinberg could lose valuable customers, so i hope they will be able to turn things for the best real soon. With kind regards to everyone on Steinberg and their forums.

I’m aware that my comments may be open to debate, but I have to make them. The problem of Asknet (declared insolvent) as supplier of Steinberg’s transactional activities, reminds me of the highly irritating problems we experienced with the eLicencer (of sad memory). We’re not talking about the same technical problem, but a management problem. I’ve worked for many large companies. For any company, the strength of suppliers is essential and must be constantly checked and proven, especially when the services involved compromise the use of key products or sales themselves, the two lifebloods of entrepreneurial survival. A mistake on this point may be forgivable. Chance, let’s say, or bad luck. A second mistake leads to another diagnosis: the incompetence of a department or a manager, management’s lack of foresight, the weakness of its internal audits and verifications, its lack of judgment. Steinberg has had to apologize to its customers for the second time in a few years. Let’s hope the third one doesn’t come.

Proposal: I propose that Steinberg, which is unable to sell its updates for Cubase and Nuendo (if the latter is ready), offer versions 13 on a 60-day trial basis. This will give us time to find a reliable supplier, but also time to check for possible bugs before the real sale. It will also prevent customer frustration.

Thanks for your proposal, Claude-Marc. Although we considered it at the start of this process, we ruled it out in favour of focusing 100% on restoring our online shop as quickly as possible. There is no doubt that there are lessons for us to learn as a company from this experience, but the time for post mortems and future process improvement is once the sales channel has reopened and our pipeline of product releases is moving.

From a technical point of view, we and our new partner are ready to go. As soon as the ink on the contract is dry, we will be able to reopen the shop. I don’t want to jinx anything, but it really should be a matter of a few days now before we can “soft launch” the shop to check that the customer experience is where it needs to be, and a few days more before the shop can be reopened fully. Once the shop is fully reopened, we can then start releasing new products.

You’re not making any mysterious suggestion here, are you?:grinning:

Does that mean I can buy the Absolute 6 Upgrade before my Halion 7 trial runs out on Oct 31?:grinning_face::+1::folded_hands::grin::four_leaf_clover::musical_note::musical_notes:

If not, we’ll be happy to further extend your HALion 7 trial as needed.

How about we make some music while we are waiting for Cubase / Nunedo 13.
Remember people had no DAW not so long ago and still manged to make some great hits.
I am positive current version of Cubase can handle all our talent just fine.

Or to put it more succinctly, the time for post-mortems is post mortem.

Here’s what you never want to hear from your doctor: “I think the only way I can diagnose your illness is through autopsy. I’ll need to have your consent for that.”
