Man, I feel for the Steinberg, I’m sure they’re stressed about the lost sales, but I’m in a bit of a pickle too. I upgraded to a Macbook Pro with M2 chip and I desperately need to upgrade to Cubase 12 in order for the software to work. I have deadlines too! Looks like I’ll be switching DAWs for the foreseeable future. Super bummed.
What version of Cubase do you have now ?
10.5. Which apparently still works for many using machines with the M1, but I get the pink windows in the UI using my MacBook Pro with the M2. The software is unusable.
Use the trial version?
Thats what I’ve been doing, along with finally digging into the MIDI Remote and learning what I can do with my Launchkey heh. You can hold off on releasing 13 as long as you want Steinberg, Im sure not a single one us has even covered half of what’s already available…
Even if your Cubase 12 trial ran out (if you ever had one), they will extend it for you so you can use it until the shop is reopen. Just ask on this thread!
Hey,
is it possible to extend my Cubase 12 Trial. It ran out.
I wanted to update from 10.5 to 12 a week after my trial ran out but the shops been already closed at this point of time. No retailer is selling the update.
I tried to buy an update from Sweetwater in the USA, but they won’t sell Cubase Activation Codes to Germany.
Hope you can help. ![]()
Welcome to the forum, @FredoTorpedo. I’ve extended your trial until the end of October.
Thank you very much. ![]()
All the best for the roll out of your new shop. ![]()
Depending on where you are located there may be regular music stores you can buy it from. I’m in the US and a few days ago bought an update from SpectraLayers 9 to 10 from Sweetwater just fine. The Steinberg Online shop may not be your only option.
All i’m going to say on this situation is , i hope you have upgraded your download servers because you are going to get one hell of a rush when the shop re-opens ![]()
Totally agree ![]()

How will the soft launch work? Users invited with unique links or only some accounts being able to carry through with the purchase?
I am in the UK so if you need some of the Brexit money
to test it out, let me know (for Cubase Pro 13 upgrade).
@dspreadbury , I imagine that given the delay since Cubase 13 is ready, Nuendo 13 will be able to come out at the same time? Are you in a position to say that?
We do not intend to launch several major products at the same time.
For the soft launch, we will contact customers in a range of countries by email with a special sales offer. The soft launch will itself not include any new product launches. As already explained, we will launch the new online shop with our existing product range and verify that everything is working as it should before we introduce any new products.
That’s unfortunate, perhaps there is something to the number “13” Can’t sell it give it free I am sure people will appreciate it. lol
Hi there!
Really casual!
I started a trial of Spectralayers a couple of months ago, I don’t know how as I didn’t even get to download it because the download manager didn’t get pass the sign in screen.
Today I went to your shop to purchase it via an upgrade to Audition, but your shop is down (and I’ve read alot of the above messages).
Can you please extend the trial for a couple of weeks for me, and put me on the list for UK soft launch (you can test if the competitive crossgrade works). Also, if you have any promo codes on the new Cubase 13 / Nuendo that would be great for later use, I don’t use a DAW much, just to use the Soundfield VST for live recordings but if one or both can improve the live rock music recordings I take of my friends, that would be great!
Spectralayers I’m hoping will let me isolate specific instruments and especially the vocals, which are really hard to capture at the right level because the drums and guitars tend to overpower. I’ve recently bought the Rode Soundfield (with Zoom F6) and the Wireless Go Pro for their 32bit float recording so clipping isn’t a problem! Any advice to improve live rock recordings without access to the interface.
