Yes, I think it’s safe to say that we are now within the grace period for Cubase 13, so if you redeem a DAC for either a new Cubase license or an update/upgrade now, you will be eligible for a grace period update to Cubase 13.
Crossgrades are not currently available on the reopened shop, but we expect them to be available within the next week or so. Verification of crossgrade and edu licenses – although performed by Steinberg staff – used a system that was built by our former partner Asknet, and our new partner FastSpring does not have a comparable system available. We are working to build the replacement system ourselves, and it will be ready soon.
I don’t know if it’s because of the new store, but now the support thing don’t work anymore. I have a problem with a license upgrade, but when i’m trying to make a ticket i’m redirected to the site front page.
If you go to Sign in and sign in there, then click the Create Support Request button, does that work?
If not, I suggest you send an email detailing your problem to info at steinberg dot de, which will make its way to our support team one way or another.
First of all, I think Daniel - @dspreadbury - should get a HUGE THANK YOU for how responsive he’s been in the forum and in other forums (I saw him posting actively in at least one other forum) about the online store situation and with the “preview” opening! He has gone above and beyond, working at odd hours from what I can tell from the forum posts!
THANK YOU, Daniel! Well done!
If other Steinberg managers could take a moment to observe Daniel’s level of professionalism, they should probably give him an award, use him as a model for support in general, and probably give him a bonus or raise.
Hi, returning user to Cubase (hobbyist who just never got the time any more). I can see in the shop that there is an Update path to Pro 12 (and hopefully will be for 13) from Cubase 4 - which was what I was using.
What is the process for updating? I have my eLicence registered and have managed to resurrect my old account. Do I need to find my old dongle? Am I going to annoy my wife by having to upend boxes of junk 10+ years old to try and find it?
FYI - I don’t know if Steinberg is still offering their Zero Downtime service, but if you can’t find your USB eLicenser dongle in all your boxes, then there USED TO BE a process by which you can recover lost licenses. Again, I can’t confirm that Steinberg still offers this service, since they have migrated over to a more “modern” new licensing platform (an in-house system called “Steinberg Licensing”).
Here are some links to get you started with eLicenser Zero Downtime though… maybe as a last resort, they can help you, maybe not:
Good luck! Going from Cubase 4 to 12/13 will be a quantum leap!
EDIT: BTW, as a last-last resort if Zero Downtime doesn’t help you, Steinberg offers competitive crossgrades too, so you can get a discount for owning a third-party DAW.
What better way to spend a Halloween weekend than looking for a USB e-Licenser!
It’s still worth finding it though … you might need it to convert projects older than C4. The new licensing system will not allow your old C4 to run. In addition, the process to upgrade the old license will look for the license on the USB e-Licenser, mark it as “upgraded”, convert it to the new Steinberg Licensing system, and from then on, you can run C12 without the USB e-Licenser attached.
Man I really hope they fixed “Custom Color Scheme” bug under Preferences. Cubase and Nuendo both can’t hold on to saved color which is annoying as hell. Hopefully they added some additional bright colors.
I just used it and it seem fine to me. Latest version cubase Pro 12 on Windows 11.
Work perfect. On color scheme option you can add tons of more colour accent.
