In all honesty I’ve been waiting to do the update until there were more posts. I’ve been using 6.5.3 without problems for a while. Also no intention of upgrading to 7 at all right now.
You should be able to do a restore from your last restore point (hoping you are doing restore points). I have used this many times to recover from a failed upgrade.
Thanks Guys , i try all U Guys mentioned , n yes i always keep restore points , N SB pls make an uninstall 4 ur upgrades , help save a lot of headaches … thanks sm
Thanks Niles , ur links give me SB webpage , where do i go 4m there , on the controllers there its only thier CMC series , pls i need this , as the the Zero Auto map 4.7 is freaking out … thanks sm
If Cubase crashes on closing, in some cases it is caused by a third party plug-in but in some other cases it is caused by Automap (Novation) wrapped plug-ins.
Solution
1.Uninstall Automap
Delete the Cubase AutomapClient.dll should be installed in the following location;
Windows 32-bits:
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Cubase\Components
Windows 64-bits:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\Cubase\Components
Manually delete all of the wrapped plug-ins pluginname.dll from both the 64-bit VST folders and 32-bit VST folders to solve this issue. On Windows 7 these folders are usually located here:
Reinstall the Automap 4.4 beta 4 (or later) then re-register all of your plug-ins and create new pluginname.dll files.
After uninstalling and reinstalling, the problem should be resolved.
Please be aware that even after following the above steps, the instability problems when exiting Cubase will immediately reappear as soon as you install a new plug-in and re-wrap it using Automap 4 setup. To avoid that, please run through the above steps each time you want to add a new plug-in to Automap.
As an additional suggestion you might want to untick “Follow on screen Plug-In where possible” in Automap preferences too. There is an issue in Automap that causes Cubase 6.5 and above to crash when switching between multiple wrapped VSTs.
mepayne0, you may be right about Steinberg hanging themselves with that mixer. But then again, they might actually listen to the many objections to it and change it. Unlike fixing elastic or Variaudio, a seemingly impossible task for Steinberg in this century, the fix for the C7 mixer already exists in the C6.5 program.
Wild speculation here (perhaps), but imagine a future world where young people wanting to create music ditch Cubase for the likes of Garage Band, Reaper, and Fruity Loops - all for the lack of a simple to use and easy to understand mixer? Is that day already here?
Please be aware that even after following the above steps, the instability problems when exiting Cubase will immediately reappear as soon as you install a new plug-in and re-wrap it using Automap 4 setup. To avoid that, please run through the above steps each time you want to add a new plug-in to Automap.
Wow u guys ( who Use the zero SL MK II ) do that ever time u load a plug in ??? i just sent them a mail , sort out the bug , sure many of u contacted Novatation , that too such a popular device ??? sm
Well rereading your post and what you just wrote, I’m more confused. Haha!
What exactly were/are you saying?
Me, I was saying that I hope that Steinberg DOES change the mixer in C7 somewhere down the road and that I don’t see the mixer in C7 as a static thing. Especially if becomes the sole reason why future buyers of DAW software might avoid Cubase…
unwilling to disturb this topic , i have started a new thread , though its relative some how .
for Novation Users who face C 6.5.5 update crash due to Novation , may there might be some help from Novation after all , My communication with them is there , sm
I haven’t yet installed 6.5.5, but this is reassuring - though I had no doubts about this final update.
Now, since I left the C7 forums since it came out, what exactly is the ‘C7 Mixer Issue’? After it just came out I believe everybody was quite excited about it… I decided to skip C7 anyway, since it has not enough to offer over 6.5 for my needs.
