And as someone else said that it was for android.

VST Live is not available for Android.
You can control all actions in VST Live with your controller, depending on how you want to use it you will have tpo program actions, where you can use the Learn function.

Hello
Is it a way to control the stack’s Input parameter with a midi controller ?
Stack input

Not yet. What would you need it for?
Note that this is not a gain control. We cannot control the hardware gain of the audio interface.
Sure, the input volume of a Stack has an impact on the feed, and thus, drive of an amp simulation, but it would probably better to use the amp sims gain control for that.

Ok,
Just want to use it like send pot in live situation (for sending just one word of the lyrics or just one snare hit in the FX).
It would be more simple to do this with my MIDI controller controlling this parameter than searching the good page or layer of the nowadays digital mixing consoles.

Good point. I guess we should include sends (also for mixer channels in general) instead, usually you use send levels for that.

@musicullum @JuFa
The app is a great idea, i purchased pro already.
After taking a few days build my setlist with VST Live as a Cubase user, I would request these below:

  • mixer can change color and can be draged freely.
  • Automation.
  • side chain for fx plugins.
  • be able NOT use/show some Songs in the setlist (there is a repertoaire for all of us and creating setlist regarding the given gig (by needed setlist-lenght, mood, etc…). So I would like to create setlist from my song pool by drag’n drop songs from my pool to the setlist)

Need for 2-3 common/global FX sends (using eg. Reverb, Dly) where: send level is set/saved with each song, but be able adjusting eg. reverb/dly preset (drop decay time when get to a hall/venue where a general reverb is long already, or EQ-it a bit). Doing without the need to change/fine tune my LiveLEAD-Track’s send’s preset for each song in a 2x pcs setlist. If you see what I mean.

Be able writing automation for live played tracks (just automating a send adjust the delay for a few words, lines), sometimes making extra sections within each song is way to complicated when talking about a just few, short places when playing verse, refrain, etc… (as we write automation in studio)

Output names (sound, video)! They should be some kind of database entries in the background… I mean the name should not count… like when changing name, it should update itself the “inspector view” instead of fallback to "nc"and killing user with the need of update a long playlist…

Midi Learn… No success at all… nothing … sometimes program-exit… (failed with Behringer One touch and/or M-audio oxygen pro)

Let the user set if VSTLive should stop after a given song, or continue with next…etc… as we do it live. It can’t be a global setting (or there should be a default behaviour) but needs to be a freely selectable behaviour for the end of each song.

Video playback engine should be optimised. It is dropping my frames with a relative strong laptop that is used for much complicated 4k video+multitrack playbacks with other apps.

SmartPhone app: should place some simplifyed transport bar for “PLAY, STOP, NEXT,…” remote

I think it’s a very good idea to hide songs, just like you do with tracks in Cubase, in case they aren’t played at that concert.

You have playlists for that

Ok I did not see it, the one that is in English only and not in Spanish is costing me.
The manual in Spanish would be nice.

Don’t know where you get ctrl+f from, that’s not assigned, but at the top left there is the “Setlist” item. Use “+” to create a new setlist from the current playlist, edit, and the top left item activates it.

In the making

planned. You can acheive some sort of automation as described here

planned for later.

Setlist editor will be improved soon, incl. your request.

You can do that, add Group Channel

Depends on the sending channel. Layers, Stacks etc are saved with Parts.

Group (“Fx”) Channels are global to the project, so that should work?

My keyboard is always a “Motif” (or whatever), but my hardware varies with preparation (studio), rehearsal, and stage. VST Live keeps track of all assignments (up to 32 per port) whenever a project is saved, so it will find hardware ports onece their assignment was saved with the project. This is why the name is important, it is the identifier for your controller, whatever hardware port is assigned. Isn’t that exactly what you need? But maybe there is a missunderstanding.

Could you pls. be a bit more specific, what exactly did you do?

menu Song/Song End Action

That’s exactly how it works.

Can’t verify this, it may be related to audio (plugins) activity, watch CPU, or maybe type of video. Usually doesn’t play less performant than other players under the same load.

coming.

Added for next update.

“playlists” that I can put together using existing songs in the project? Where can I find it’s editor/dropdown-menu item in the app, or the PDF manual, I’m couldn’t find regarding chapter for “playlist” using ctrl+f

@musicullum I really appreciate your answers! Spent a few time on your answers.

It seems, then I can’t do what I meant:
Say: there is a LEAD something (vocal, instrument). Usually… even in bigger shows, there are 1-2-3FX busses and some Reverb, Delay is loaded. Then we used to adjust FX sends (less/more reverb, less/more dly).

Adding GroupCH, I can’t change the SEND level by SONG/PART by PART. There are songs, needs generally more reverb/delay send… and the ones need none or less. For sure, there are ones they need special setting (thats what STACKS is for).

For now, to set different SEND levels, need to use PARTS, duplicate audio-fx-stack again and again to sed different SEND levels… So get to a cathedral, can’t just change a generally used REVERB/DELAY preset, because I will have lot’s of stacks with lot’s of RoomWorks loaded.
VSTLive-FX1+2.

  • IF, I could select/force FX-1 and FX-2 send signal to global FX busses.
  • Or these FX-1 / FX-2 sends would be global ones for the loaded setlist
That would be a solution. In that case just quick customisation for the global fx’s at one place, that is used for the complete show and pre-programmed SEND levels can go to global FX’s for each songs/parts.

Is that clear how I try to explain? Maybe easier to think about a normal evening where a Digit mixer has 1-4FX racks and the engineer is working with the send faders to this 1-4FX’ busses. Small adjusments can be made tweaking FX racks directly.

Furthermore I can nows set million versions of compressor setting now within a playlist, but can’t set a compressor globally by having the option routing to STACKS within PARTS for additional inserts. You can do this usually with a stompbox multiFX also. Global compressor/eq, different modulation, but global REVERB preset (less/more MIX / SEND).

Meanwhile this is awesome possiblilty us to use STACKS with completely different settings for each songs/parts. Just please find a way let users using some global busses keeping usually globally used things more simple and consolidated.

Clicked LEARN (left/bottom corner), selected slider/button and pressed my MIDI controller hoping the best…
Now, as you mentioned, “Actions and Shortcuts” does the job

About the VIDEO playback. Tried with Cubase 12 pro and it sutcks/droppingframes also, but working fine with REAPER DAW, Resolume Arena, VLC. I can upload the material to you if feel like debugging!

Any hope LTC (Linear Timecode/SMPTE) recognisation will be adopted as eg. REAPER does?

I figured out some things with your answers. Also looking fw to future updates, willing to change my live system to VSL Live asap

Great !

Thank you !

First off, this is about Stacks which I didn’t realize.
Every Stack, just like a Layer Instrument, has its own channel in the mixer. While a Stack is a complete submixer on its own, you can send from the mixer channel to Group (Fx) channels, use the “e” button on the mixer channel to expand). Maybe that helps. Also you can copy/paste Stacks and drag/drop into and out of the Media Bay to the right.

As said you can do that with the Stack Channels (in the mixer), but not within Stacks, those are closed sub, ixers.

When the items turns yellow it should learn whatever you send. Make sure your MIDI input port is assigned in the Devices/Connections setting.

You may be comparing apples to onions, because it depends so much on what is going on in addition. If you run a full loaded project in DAW a and just testing video in DAW b, results may be quite different. To compare, create just one video track and remove all global fx etc.
Not sure if it helps to send a file, if you have a short one we’re happy to test it.
Sync is planned (MTC, but no LTC; we may send LTC in the PRO version later though).

You asked that question in another thread before and it had been answered. Please don’t ask the same question in several threads.
There is the “setlist” item at the top left where you can create and modify Setlists. To create a Setlist from the existing playlist, click the plus button.

Unless I missed it (just started exploring it as a possible replacement to MainStage), I can’t see any way to output the click to a different channel. Please make the click output assignable.
