I use folders all the time, but,
there are situations where folders sometimes get in the way or clutter things too much.
For example when editing a bass, guitars, drums - each of those instruments might be in their own folders, but when it comes to editing them it can be essential to have the waveforms as close together as possible.
Also just to be able to see the whole project and not have folders taking up vertical space.
