I agree with Presonus’s first two points but I’m puzzled by the suggestion to put the board into compatibility mode. Did they explain why you should run that way?
Also, I’m not convinced that the ‘Could not create record file’ message has anything to do with your driver issue. I think it may be a bit of a canard.
If you do a google search on the message, there aren’t that many hits but none of them are associated with audio drivers or connections. They variously seem to be related to Cubase’s ability to create files on disk, whether through issues of permissions, space, file formats, etc.
