I used the Presonus Faderport for a few years and it worked just fine. Smaller than the cc1. I think I got that before the Frontier Design Alphatrack came out. That was probably about the same size as the cc1.
US and Canada only (for now). Live in another country or don’t use Mac?
Let us know at info@fade.audio.
Interesting, but it totally depends on pricepoint.
Well, I’m in Europe, and I’m working under Windows 60% of my time, so I’m not the target group for FADE, it seems. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Yeah, my Faderport Classic is still kickin’. But it has the 8 channel bank limitation thing (PreSonus long ago abandoned the Mac software) and there’s now a screw loose in the power supply which makes me nervous. So I’m always on the lookout for a single-fader design.
Yeah - I imagine they’ll gauge demand after the initial launch. Makes no sense to put in the R&D time for Windows and ramping-up wide scale distribution if you don’t know how the product will be received. I do hope it’s reasonably priced, though. Not sure if I’d go much over $150 US for a single fader… $175? Well see…
you need to have stream deck installed and click on the ‘stream deck link’ . then you can customize the streamdeck for the ‘demo device’.
you can customize the streamdeck for the ‘demo device’.
Yes, thank you for the tip, but that’s just for one of the panels right?
Got mine today. Excellent building quality, feels just great.
BUT: you just can’t program this CC1! All profiles are fixed, can’t change buttons, no menu where you can select which function/command for which key.
One profile is for stream deck, that one you can adjust of course, just like a normal stream deck
And two profiles got fixed button in which you can change the key commands to your taste. But all the main profiles are fixed and not customizable.
But is not a programmable controller.
Just don’t understand this. Nektar, SSL, Icon: all of these do better in customising;
Did Yamaha released this too soon? Does the Control Center need to have a new version?
Very frustrated indeed….
BUT: you just can’t program this CC1!
This is really weird as the product description states that keys and knobs are fully configurable. Maybe the software is a bit behind?
Let’s hope!
Also, even in de Stream Deck profile, you can’t program the rotary knobs…
I’m testing CC1 right now. Due to the strange fact that @steve moved my initial thread on this topic to another, orphaned forum, I use this one for a few Nuendo-related remarks:
- The unit is heavy and feels quite sturdy, it looks quite big on the console desk - larger than I had judged from the pictures.
- Here, it needs dedicated power supply using the dedicated USB-input, the actual connection via my USB-3 hub was too weak.
- Installation is not totally straight-forward if your OS is in another language than English as it points to translated websites with some info missing, most notably the download button(s) for the Control Center. I erroneously installed Cubase AI instead.

- Sometimes I had to close and re-start Nuendo 14 for no apparent reason to make it work.
- Once it’s up and running, the unit follows the channel-selection on the screen instantly and reliably, just like it should.

- The buttons feel sharp-cut and not totally comfortable. The knobs and the fader are fine, though. The jog-wheel would benefit from the typical notch for the tip of a finger.
- !! I couldn’t make it work in Nuendo 12, with the exception of the fader. Any tricks I should know of …?
… this will be most likely the actual reason for me to return the device. ----- EDIT: Works to a certain extent in HUI Mode! See below. - There’s indeed no obvious way to change existing assignments to buttons and wheels.
- This omission is somewhat alleviated by the possibilities of the “AI”-wheel that is straight-forward to use.
- The panning knob has a bug that only allows for the movement of the left channel when a stereo-track is routed to a stereo-“child” of a surround- or 3D-Group Channel. (Workaround: Route to a quadro-child instead).
… maybe there’s more to come.
Looks like they have some work on the software! ![]()
I might have to wait a bit to see how this situation evolves. ![]()
Thank you to all who are on the cutting edge and bought it already. Your reports are greatly appreciated! ![]()
Thank you to all who are on the cutting edge and bought it already.
I haven’t bought it yet. Our very diligent local distributor sent me one proactively and asked for my feedback after I inquired about the notorious implementation of channel selection. ![]()
Hi,
Just for clarification, the “AI” stands for “Advanced Integration” for many years in this case. ![]()
New owner of one- it’s definitely head scratchingly limited, or I’m thick, in regard to the inability to configure anything beyond adding text on the “Cubase” Profile/Profile List functions. The pre-built functions are great, but there are other commands that I’d like to replace the “Default Freeze Channel Options” button for example. Creating new buttons in the “Stream Deck Link” profile it doesn’t look like there’s a way to tie the 4 knobs to any button commands.
This has been stated several times already, thanks! ![]()
Mine don’t … I’m on Mac and Yamaha don’t seem to like updating USB drivers for Mac OS.
Shame because the CMC’s would do what I need. None of my Yamaha stuff works on Mac now.
Now, the CMC’s were cheap, so I guess we are meant to just say ‘oh well’ … but they are still serviceable and built well. No need to add them to a land fill!
My Mackie MCU-Pro still works like champ but I’m space constrained now, and it is bulky! haha
I’ve met most of my needs mapping controls from y keyboard controller using the Nuendo MIDI Remote functionality which is very nice IMO.
This device looks very tempting, but not for me!
Aside- why dont these small form factor controllers have two faders …. for a manually executed cross fade? Mainly what I want faders for!
Yeah, that sucks. But I can see the other side of this too- MacOS evolves in a way that leaves old programs and devices wanting updates. One studio where I did sessions was still running Macs from like 2008 last year.
Its not yet available here in India though Yamaha has a good presence.
Hi,
What I would really like to see is the Cubase/Nuendo focus-based commands on the upper (srteam-deck-like) area.
So if the focus is on the Project area, I get a set of commands related to the Project area. But if I switch focus over to MixConsole (either in the window or the Lower Zone), I get a set of commands related to the MixConsole. Another set, when the focus is in the Key Editor, etc.
If this were implemented, that would be a total killer from my point of view.
Do you know, by any chance, if this is going be the case, please?
May I ask you, @Dom_Sigalas , please?
