I noticed quite a few threads about this already, and it seems the only available solution is to change the whole Cubase color scheme and then it magically reverse the two colors to what we’d all expect. Some people claiming this is a bug that was supposted to be fixed!
However I was not happy with how light I have to make things, not to mention that it changes the Key Editor as well, so in the end I’m not satisfied so am marking this as a Features Request.

Question1:
VariAudio KeyEditor Color is a reversed one. It means the white keys on a piano are in Darker Color, and the black keys on a piano are in lighter gray color. It quite confusing, where to change it?
Question2:
Is it possible to set or highlight the keys within a certain scale mode? For example, all the pitch or keys in nature major scale or harmonic minor scale is highlighted to speed up the recognization.

The colours of the keys in VariAudio have been inverted. Black keys are white and white keys are black. I’ve lost count of the number of mistakes I’ve made in VariAudio today due to this counter-intuitive change.
PLEASE put this back at it was.
So I’m running cubase 11 and have just noticed that in variaudio when using the chord track my segment colours are not standard.
Mine are green, turquoise and orange even with the default colour scheme. Quickly went back to cubase 10 and colours there are as they should be green, blue and red.
Anybody else had this and know how to fix it please ?
Many thanks
Is there a bright theme for variaudio in Cubase 10? Because the inverted pianoroll is not a good idea. Black must be black
[SOLVED]
Hi to everyone. I swear, I tried everything in the Preferences but to no avail. Custom Colors don’t work.
We all are accustomed to the natural way things appear: black keys have darker lanes in MIDI editor and vice versa.
Here, in this pic we see Audio Editor in VariAudio mode. Black keys have lighter lines which is so damn confusing. See the pic attached. White keys are darker lines. Steinberg, WHY?
Is it possible to change things back to normal???
Thanx.

All my attempts to create a lighter color scheme in Preferences have failed. This is absolutely confusing for someone who has actually been composing music all their life (I’m 72 years old!). I don’t want nor need to use Chord/Scale shortcuts—excellent tools in their own right, of course—when I want to write harmonization for a vocal track by using the outstanding Vari-Audio technology. This is totally slowing down my workflow.
I’ve been using Cubase since 1992 and have always felt grateful to …
